Our Teaching Team
Mwana
Dreaming of a better way to educate the children around her, her gentle determination and resilience in a predominantly patriachal society, have resulted in this joyous little school. A ‘modern day, Islamic Mother Theresa’, as described by one of our volunteers recently.
Rose
Aged 26
A single mother to a four-year old boy, Rose was the second teacher employed by Mwana and is the nominal Headteacher of Bluebells. She is loyal and hardworking, truly loves her job and always looks immaculate.
Khadija
Aged 35
Our longest serving teacher - who was with us at our first school 'Bushbells' - she loves her 'baby class' and her laugh and energy is infectious. She says, ‘this school is good as the teachers are very hard working and care about the children’. Her youngest daughter attends Bluebells School.
Betty
Aged 33
Betty teaches PP2, and both her son and daughter are at Bluebells School. She quietly and efficiently gets on with her teaching, and she loves what she does and says, ‘Bluebells is unique as it provides a better education than other schools and Mwana is very kind to teachers and pupils alike’.
Salama
Aged 28
Salama teaches Grade 2 and is Curriculum Head. As well as being a great teacher, she loves to dance! Our third longest serving memberof staff, she says ‘This school is special as the facilities are far better than other schools, with more water points and nutritious food. I want to inspire my fellow teachers and pupils to dream big."
