Operation Rainbow Fish

When I heard of my MBE in June, I received so many wonderful messages of support and congratulations.  One was a fellow MBE recipient - who my brother happened to know and he's set up a wonderful children's home in Ukraine. He kindly wrote and said, "the world is full of extraordinary people, trying to do ordinary things..."

And so it was with Lara and Edith.  Our two most recent volunteers - who saved and saved to get out to Bluebells, and even though they were only at the school for a mere 6 days, how they packed a punch!

Focussed, determined - they arrived knowing what they wanted to do and brought all the necessary resources to complete their project.

See 'Operation Rainbow Fish'  They painted this HUGE mural on the wall that is very clearly visible when arriving at the school  on the left hand side.  In addition, with Grade 5, they also made some actual 3D Rainbow Fish. All this in 6 days, and they still managed to find time to interact, teach and enjoy the children and participate in their weekly assemblies and partake of their daily school lives.

The Rainbow Fish is an enchanting tale for children that teaches happiness comes from giving; that self-esteem arises from the good opinion of others and that self-sacrifice is necessary to make friends.

Their legacy has left an indelible mark on the entire Bluebells community and we cannot thank them enough,  or praise them more highly! Thank you Lara! Thank you Edith!
